In one of the weirdest attempts at cross promotion ever, Google owned navigation app Waze will be partnering with the voice of the terminator himself Arnold Schwarzenegger to provide a new, ultra weird way for you to get your driving directions.
The tie in is obviously timed to promote the forthcoming Terminator Genysis in which the Austrian Oak will once again struggle to reboot the classic series that has taken a few dodgy turns in recent installments, but it’s obvious that the marketing men haven’t exactly thought this through.
After all, he’s a Terminator, a machine dedicated to the eradication of mankind, are we really going to let him tell us how to drive? People have managed to drive themselves into rivers before while following their GPS, are we going to trust this machine not to order a sharp left turn next time we’re crossing the QE2 Bridge?
Arnie himself sees the irony in this, telling USA Today “In 1984, when we did (the first) Terminator, we talked about the world being run by machines. It was science fiction then, Now you have machines telling you where to drive.”
Terminator Genysis will be in selected cinemas from July 1st
