Amazon celebrates 20th birthday with Prime Day sales and promotions

Get set to mark your calendars and be prepared to empty your bank accounts, as Amazon has marked July 15th as part of their Prime Day celebrations.  On this day, Amazon are officially 20 years old, and to mark the occasion, they are doing a series of sales and promotions for one day only. The online retailing giant are making some bold claims like boasting this sale will have ‘more deals than Black Friday‘!  This promotion is running in all eligible Prime countries, so it is going to be quite a big deal, indeed.

Since this sale is exclusive for Amazon Prime members only, they are throwing the proverbial carrot for those that want to take part by dropping the price of Prime membership by £20 to £59 until July 8th.  The main benefits of Prime membership include unlimited one day deliveries, Prime Instant Video access, unlimited cloud photo storage, free access to 500,000 ebooks, and preferential pricing on promotional items shipped from Amazon.

This might be a great time to join, not only for the reduced price of entry, but if you live in London, you will be eligible for the recently launched ‘Prime Now‘ service that offers ‘one hour deliveries’ at £6.99 or free ‘two hour deliveries’ however this is only available to a limited set of postcodes within central and east London currently, with more locations being added weekly.

Do you have a Prime membership? For those that don’t, is this enough of a deal for you to take the plunge? Leave your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!
