Comic Con 2015 San Diego – Here’s what we loved

Comic Con 2015 San Diego is over but it brought with it a smorgasbord of news that got all the fans hyped. Cool costumes, chances to meet the stars of our favourite TV shows and movies, and most importantly get the scoop on what we will see next from our favourite heroes, or villains.

So here’s our favourite stories from this year.

Batman vs Superman

We were dreading that they would release this. When they first showed the scene where the Bat asks Superman if he bleeds, I felt a bit embarrassed for all the people involved in the making of this movie. When the new trailer was shown at Comic Con 2015 I felt relief and started to actually have hopes for this it.

Ben Affleck has a bad rep for no good reason, ok maybe Daredevil but I blame the director and screenwriters for that, and he actually does look like a proper Batman. So here’s hoping.

Sherlock Holmes

This alone justifies my annual TV Licence bill, in my not so humble opinion this is Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman at their best. We have waited a while (I paid my TV licence for no reason last year) for this and it shall soon arrive. Our favourite detective and his partner will be solving mysteries in Victorian times. The episode will be a special and will be released in December, Moffat and Vertue were adamant in not calling it Christmas special though, probably because it is around Christmas and not on Christmas day.

The Suicide Squad

We know very little about this one. The trailer itself looks very interesting with a glimpse of the new Joker played by Jared Leto and Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie. The one casting we are not so sure about is Deadshot played by Will Smith, but we will reserve judgement and wait for the movie to come out.

Dr. Who

Well, he’s back. In his 12th incarnation we had a little taste of what’s to come in this Comic Con. With new creatures, robots and Arya Stark Maisie Williams. Here’s a little taste of it

The Victorian age seems to be en vogue again. A female Batman Batwoman defending the good people from the Victorian era seems like an awesome idea. This one will  be in the form of comic books for now, but we are already hoping that it’ll be a success, and that we get to see it in cinemas in the near future. Joss Whedon plans to release it next year, and the publisher is Dark Horse.

Star Wars

The best for last. This is one that some of us have been waiting 30 years for. We had a few glimpses last year and this year in the form of teasers. That was enough to be begging for MOAR. There were quite a few revelations at Comic Con too, we learned that there is a base called Starkiller, which is an homage to what was to be Luke’s last name before they changed it to Skywalker. We could see and hear a few of the cast members talk about their experience, and we could hear Harrison Ford talk about the movie and how good the script and story are. All of that would be more than enough, however, the highlight was a small behind the scenes trailer which you will find below (contains spoilers), and you can also find the one hour footage of the panel being interviewed

There were many other announcements, but these are the ones that are closer to our hearts.  If you feel like we missed an important one please let us know in the comments.

M Hatti

International man of non-mystery. My passion for all things tech comes from a very small age, since the first time I learned how to connect a VCR and make it work (I was 5). My first PC was an Apple II. I have fond memories about the first time I connected to a BBS and the first time I connected to the Internet via that same bulletin board system. I love films and TV series.

  • SuperFoo vs BatFoo will be the most foolish movie of 2016, for the fools!!!!!!!!!

  • I can’t wait for pretty much all of above. star Wars is def the one I cannot wait for the most though 😉
